An investors� meet would be held in April for the proposed Vizhinjam port

An investors meet would be held in April for the proposed Vizhinjam port and work on the project would start during the tenure of the Left Democratic Front-led State Government itself, M Vijayakumar, Ports Minister told the Assembly on Monday.

The Minister said that the meeting would help identify the investor for the proposed port. �Once the investor is identified, the construction would begin by November-December, the Minister said.

He said the State Government was committed to develop the basic infrastructure, which includes rail and road connectivity to the port site, and has set aside Rs 450 crore for the purpose and would be undertaken by the government-run Vizhinjam International Sea Port Ltd.
